F2PMeter: Is Farmerama Truly Free to Play?

We’re putting Bigpoint’s Farmerama, the supposedly free to play farming simulator MMO that can be played through your web browser, into our F2PMeter. In the game players can build up their own farmland, constructing buildings, growing crops for market and breeding livestock. The game claims to be completely free to play but let’s see just how free it is when we put it through our questions!
Does the game require an initial purchase?

'No'

The game can be played directly through web browsers for free.
Does the game require any continued paid subscription?

'Yes (but...)' takes away 10%

Whilst players have the option of purchasing a Premium Membership, it is not necessary to play the game. Premium Membership provides a variety of quality of life bonuses that allow players to progress more quickly, giving them extra boost resources, access to areas earlier or more neighbours that can help them advance.
Does the game require spending money on DLC packs or expansions?

'Yes (but...)' takes away 10%

There are a handful of DLC packs, such as the Turkish Pack, that do require real money to purchase and provide players with exclusive Nasreddin items. However, the majority of the content in the game and expansion are free to players, like the primary Bahamarama expansion area that gives players an island farm to expand to and a variety of new content.
Does the game support micro-transactions? Can anything be purchased in-game using real world money?

'Yes' takes away 5%

Barnyard Bills are the premium currency in the game purchased with real cash; it allows players to purchase some items without spending their Country Coins, which are earned by playing the game. The Farm Supplies store is exclusive to Barnyard Bills currency and items there cannot be purchased with the free Country Coins currency.
Do any of the micro-transactions give players an advantages?

'Yes (but...)' takes away 10%

Whilst the Farm Supplies store requires Barnyard Bills (which can be earned in smaller measure through playing) the items they provide are very useful to players, but the reality is that the game is not particularly competitive and there is no real “winner”; people play for fun and those trying to be “the best” are a small niche of the community.
Is the user interface customization restricted to paid options?

'No'

The UI cannot be customized for paying or free accounts.
Does the game give access to all available classes and/or races?

'Yes'

The game does not offer alternative classes or races.
Does the game require have limitations to how the Market is accessed?

'Yes' takes away 10%

Premium Members have the option of making 20 offers in the Market, as opposed to the standard 10 offers available to free to play accounts
Are personal inventory and/or bank slots limited at all?

'No'

The game does not put any inventory or farmland limitations on free to play users.
Are all zones accessible without purchases?

'Yes'

Every area can be accessed for any account type; however, some areas require players to reach a certain level before accessing them, whereas Premium Members can access them immediately.
Does the game restrict high endgame content?

'No'

The end-game content mostly focuses on Bahamarama and beyond, with a handful of high level features that are unlocked, but they can all be accessed for free.
Can the game be fully enjoyed without ever having to spend a ‘penny’?

'Yes' adds 10%

Players can enjoy Farmerama without ever having to spend any cash, the game isn’t particularly competitive and so the only reason to spend money is if you are impatient and don’t want to wait to advance at the games slower pace.
