In 2026, Earth has suffered from a massive ecological catastrophe, the reasons behind which are only vaguely known. In the aftermath, impassable woods advance onto cities from every side, as maddened animals and birds attack industrial complexes, military structures, warehouses and power-plants. Strange plants and mushrooms grow through concrete and steel. Scientists haplessly try to cope with the anomaly expanding with terrifying speed across the planet, causing countries to collapse and anarchy to spread throughout the world. Now force dictates and players not only have to survive but also to find out the cause of the disaster and pacify the wrath of nature.

Gameplay consists of doing raids, between which players are able to acquire weapons and equipment, getting ready for new adventures. There are several game modes they can select to find the adventure they want. As for the time being, only Teamplay is available; the other modes will open gradually as the development progresses.

Teamplay (PvP)

Two opposing teams fight against each other for survival, defending their territory and capturing valuable resources for a limited time. Using artefacts and key objects in combat grants unique advantages. The winner is the team that is able to find and deliver the most items to their base within the given timeframe.

Free play (PvE)

Everyone being for themselves, players have to fulfil their mission among the other adventurers. They travel on a large map to perform tasks.

Cooperative game (Co-op)

This mode allows players to affect the story, making the survival of humanity dependent on their actions. A small group of players is able to experience plot adventures in a series of missions grouped into a single story.

In Survarium, players are the only responsible for what their characters become. By accomplishing various tasks for factions, they will improve their relations with them and in exchange gain access to new equipment, armament and ammunition.

While surviving in the dangerous world, the player’s hero will gain experience. As their character level grows, they will obtain skill points they can distribute to develop one of the five skills. Each skill increases their combat parameters:

Firearm training – increases accuracy in shooting.

Physical training – increases running speed and weight-bearing capacity which enables to use heavier armour and guns.

Medical skills – increase effectiveness of medicine and stimulators.

Technical skills – increase effectiveness of traps and devices.

The art of survival – ability to handle anomalies and artefacts.

Upon reaching certain levels of passive skills, players will be able to choose one of several unique abilities able to completely change their style of play. Some abilities serve as great complements to each other. They will be able to experiment by combining abilities to determine the one that best suits their preferred play style.

There are specific areas within the game world that present deadly circumstances for mankind but nevertheless attract people due to the artefacts they hide. These anomalous zones should only be entered with the appropriate equipment to increase the player’s chance of survival by saving them from electric shocks, burns, and dangerous radiation.

Artefacts, which are said to be the result of hazardous and toxic substances recycled by the anomalies, possess various qualities and may either help players or harm their enemies. A special skill enables them to activate these artefacts and release their energy hidden within.

Survarium players cannot join factions, but organise their own clans. The clan leader determines both the internal and external politics of the clan. Each clan can be under auspices of one of the factions. Which faction provides protection to the clan depends on the clan members’ actions. Receiving a certain faction’s favour, clan members get access to specific unique items that are impossible to obtain by other means. With its actions, the clan represents the interests of the faction, impacts the balance of forces on the political map and the story development.

There’s an all-out war raging among clans and factions fighting for resources and territory. The global map is divided into regions, each of which can only be under the control of one clan at a time. Controlling a region grants daily bonuses which vary from game currency to rare consumables. Control over key regions will give access to unique items.
