In Taikodom: Living Universe you take on the role of a skilled pilot in this free to play MMO set in the near future that is filled with action-based gameplay and intense real-time combat. Engage in dramatic dogfights up in the darkness of space where all you have available is your ship and your skills.

The Restriction was the phenomenon that somehow managed to block contact between the surface of the planet and its orbit, 150 years have been and gone since that time and mankind had managed to make their way to a man-made space station established in the heart of the solar system. It was not long until they began to colonise nearby star systems and at this time corporations rose and established the Consortium, a group that went beyond their original purpose and became the ruling government forcing their ideals on the people they oversaw. Many who believed in a free way of life made their way to the Barnard sector looking for a way of life away from the Consortium.

As mankind spread itself across the stars it still was not far enough to sever ties between the Barnard sector and the Consortium controlled regions, skirmishes erupted on the Borders where these two territories met the Bernardinos were branded terrorists and rebels.

During the Renegade Uprising Independent pilots in their droves swarmed to join the resistance and bring the fight to the Consortium, in this time industry collapsed, piracy prevailed, and war had begun…

Players have the choice of two factions that they can choose to join:
Renegades - fighting for the values of the first of the Barnard sector the Renegades fight for their independence and their freedom. Mostly made up of the Barnardinos they fight to remove the last of the Consortium from their territory and to regain their liberty.

Consortium - Responsible for bringing men to the stars and advancing the human civilisation the Consortium is made up by various corporations that have the support of the people and are prominent supporters of expansion and progress.

As combat takes place in real time players as pilots of their own ship will have to rely on their own skills and tactics, timing every afterburn, making the most of the manoeuvres available to them during flight and dodging missile fire whilst taking their own shots against the enemy.
For those players who enjoy getting the most out of PVP there are a number of unsafe regions where they can employ their player versus player tactics as well as joining instant battlespace and territory conquest fights.

there are three available career paths for each faction, both of which deliver unique crafts and six different subroutines that can specialise a pilot.
Assault - Assault are all offensive with little defence that practice swift kills with their subroutines making them fleet and deadly opponents.
Vanguard - Making the most of the heavy ships within their fleet Vanguards are more defensive than other pilots ensuring that their subroutines are more focused on defending both themselves and their companions.

Suppressor - The Suppressor it is a classic support role at their best when assigned to a combat group, their own subroutines are focused more on hindering the abilities of their enemy.

once players find blueprints for their project then they will have the chance to make the most of their crafting abilities, using raw resources and turning them into weapons, warships, or anything else that they may require. Players also have the chance of upgrading their old out of date weaponry into new cutting edge technology for their arsenal. Items and excess materials that are needed can be traded on the interstellar markets, meaning your re-sources and time are never wasted.
