Soul Captor has unveiled some new featuresGamania Digital Entertainment has unveiled new features of their upcoming free-to-play MMORPG, Soul Captor, which is going to begin its Closed Beta on July 3rd.
Two systems take center stage in the game, namely the Anima and Soul System.
In Soul Captor players are accompanied by an "Anima", a customizable spirit creature. This guardian angel is there for the players every step of the way, and both its appearance and stats can be tailored to suit the player needs. Although small, Animas can become incredibly powerful as you level up their skills. These include Offensive, Defensive and Supportive modes that can be selected on the fly to suit any combat situation and playing style.
Animas can also be set up to take care of micromanagement issues such as reminding which dungeon instances are completed today or what events are upcoming. Furthermore, players will never have to worry about topping up your health and mana in battle again as if they drop below a pre-set level your Anima can automatically administer the potions that the player choice.
The Anima is the key to collecting Soul Spirit from defeated foes, which in turn are added to your "Soulpedia", a book that contains the souls of your defeated foes. The objective is of course to find and collect them all. Soul Spirit can be used to create powerful buffs and enchantments to strengthen both the player and his Anima. Collected monster souls in your Soulpedia unlock achievement bonuses and some can even be summoned as mounts for the players and their Anima.
Niall Callaghan, Product Manager at Gamania said: The Animas personalities really help to bring Soul Captor alive and theres a wonderful series of unlockable emotes that increase your Animas Soul Power used to capture monsters souls! I cant wait to see how players interact with them and start to form bonds with these lifelong companions. Im also really looking forward to see how players will use their Anima in game and what gameplay strategies will be used in combination with the players chosen classes.
I think the Soul System will appeal to completionists and achievement hunters alike, and it really contributes to the depth of Soul Captor as well as powering up your Anima to help players progress through the game.
Weve been working hard at polishing Soul Captor for our Global English release, and are ready to welcome the players into Closed Beta testing on July 3rd!
