Hearthstone Presents a New Way to Play

Hearthstone will introduce this spring two play formats —Standard and Wild— which will help balancing the metagame and will make the competitive scene more exciting.

Wild is the Hearthstone we all know, nothing will change there. Players will be able to use any of the cards they have collected to build a deck and then finish quests, rank up, earn gold and Legend ranks.

The new thing here is Standard, a new play mode that will be only available in Friendly, ranked and casual challenges. This format will become the official format of the Championship Tour and it will feature a dynamic and balanced metame where new future cards will have more impact.

Standard uses decks built from a pool of cards that were released in the current and previous calendar year (which includes Blackrock Mountain, The Grant Tournament, The League of Explorers, and the upcoming spring 2016 expansion), plus all Basic and Classic cards.
