It’s a traditional three lane MOBA. Players must fight in a 5 v 5 team based coop in an attempt to push allied minion waves up the lane, take out enemy tower defences and destroy the opposing team’s core structure to claim victory. With a variety of features such as choosing which order to upgrade your skills, customizing your character with cards, fast travel around the map and more there are a few things that make Paragon stand out. The game currently features a single map and supports a number of common MOBA features such as last hitting, jungling, role based characters and more.

Third person is more than just a camera angle, the entire map has been designed to be explored and traversed with multiple levels and platforms to ambush from up on high or head into the dark depths of the jungle seeking out camps. With skill based targeting with individual aimed shots or area attacks, players must think differently about how they will engage their enemy.

There is a growing cast of characters in the game, including:

Muriel – An angelic like machine that focuses on ranged attacks and support, they are a caster character granting bonuses to health regen to nearby shielded allies, fires an Orb of energy from her hand for mid-level damage, can target an ally anywhere on the map granting them a shield and quickly flies to their location granting shields to allies nearby and knocking enemies into the air.

Feng Mao – A purple alien humanoid this melee fighter is an ideal Jungler, roaming between lanes and taking out camps, he can make melee sweep attacks increasing damage by built up stacks, has a short distance teleport that damages enemies and heroes and gives him high mobility, for his Ultimate he can jump into the air slamming his blade into the ground sending out a mini earthquake in a line to damage enemies.

Each hero has five skills that they unlock and upgrade as they level up through the course of a match, bound to their left and right mouse buttons and QER keys they allow for a variety of skill shots and buffs to help the character in their role.

Beyond character abilities players also get to further customize their playstyle with the use of cards, items that are earned through gameplay and players can build their own deck, as they earn Card XP (CXP) in the game from various actions they can equip these cards to their six inventory slots. Cards have different costs so players can switch out older/cheaper cards during the game to make way for more expensive/powerful cards. Some act as passive buffs, others are items with a number of uses such as healing potions, mana potions, drones, etc. which can be replenished each time the player returns to base (which is also the only place they can manage their cards).

Between the three lanes players will head down into the shadowy areas known as the jungles, here they can find harvesters to acquire CXP resources as well as a variety of camps and bosses. When these camps are destroyed the player will earn a buff depending on the type of camp they destroyed, granting XP and CXP, attack speed, mana regeneration or increased damage. These buffs are dropped in the form of orbs when the camp is killed, but they can be picked up by any players, regardless of whether or not they are on the team of the person who destroyed the camp.

To get around the map quickly players can jump into travel mode by holding the shift key, it takes a few seconds to charge up but then the player can quickly run around the map between lanes or getting out of danger if needs be. Care must be taken when moving in travel mode; if an enemy manages to hit you with an attack then you are stunned in place for a few seconds.
