War Thunder Gets Ready for Dagor Engine 4.0

War Thunder is a free-to-play, cross-platform, massively multiplayer military masterpiece with millions of fans worldwide, that allows players on PC, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Mac and Linux

War Thunder will begin to implement an improved version of its Dagor Engine soon, and today, in the latest devblog video, developers reveals what we can expect out of it. Watch it below!

The new engine will allow to correctly interpret the way light interacts with objects within its environment, including the diffusion and reflection of light on shiny and opaque surfaces and materials such as wood, steel, rubber and glass. These changes will make vehicles and the environment look even more realistic.

Another part of the improved engine is the integration of NVIDIA GameWorks technologies. Gaijin is working closely with NVIDIA to introduce larger destructible objects to the game: wall fragments, ruins and entire buildings will all react to in-game ballistic physics. Also, the inclusion of NVIDIA Waveworks technology will generate incredibly realistic waves and foam effects for oceans, seas, rivers and lakes, which will also factor wind direction and strength.
