TOP 10: Our Best MMOs List of 2013
As another year draws to a close we take a look back over the free to play MMOs that have graced our website this year and have put together another list that we think makes up the best of the bunch. Whether they're new contenders on the scene or just those old dogs that wont give up the fight, here's our Best MMOs List of 2013.
10 - Lineage 2
Whilst Lineage 2 might be one of the oldest MMORPGs still on the market, surprisingly it still feels extremely current, which might be to do with the constant updates and content added into the game, not to mention the graphical tweaks so it doesn’t look dated. With over 30 main classes in the game and various stages of class progression as you level, advancement keeps your gameplay fresh as you play through 90 levels of lore packed adventure.
9 - Pirate Storm
Pirate Storm is a free to play, browser-based, MMO game set in the era of pirates. Also playable through Facebook, alone or with other pirates in their guild, players must face monsters from the darkest depths of the ocean and greedy, enemy pirates.
8 - Firefall
Firefall is a free-to-play sci-fi MMOFPS set in a future Earth where players must band together. Uniting in the form of armies, they will need to collect resources to craft weapons and vehicles to fight back the apocalyptic threat of the Chosen invasion. 7 - Neverwinter
Neverwinter is a free-to-play action MMORPG based on the acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons fantasy roleplaying game. Epic stories, action combat and classic roleplaying await those heroes courageous enough to enter the fantastic world of Neverwinter.
6 - Aion
Aion is quite possibly one of the biggest MMORPGs out there, and it is easy to see why. Packed full of interesting and unique features such as the ability for your character fly without the need of mounts or vehicles is just one of the ways the game stands out. Beautifully designed and rendered environments, fast paced combat, thousands of story-driven quests and more hours of action packed gameplay than you can imagine.
5 - Tera
The Exiled Realm of Arborea (abbreviated as TERA) is a free to play 3D fantasy MMORPG with visually stunning graphics quality and a very intense and rewarding combat where skill, position, timing and aim determine success in combat. Players can use a controller or a keyboard and mouse, and they have full control over the attacks.
4 - Rift
Rift is a free-to-play PvE focused themepark MMORPG published by Trion Worlds allowing you to explore the gorgeous World of Telara together with your friends and fight against dangerous monsters for treasure, fame and glory.
3 - War Thunder
Set during World War II, War Thunder is a combat MMO game dedicated to military aviation, armoured vehicles, and fleets of this era. Fighting with real players from all over the world in massive historical battles, players are exposed to combat on land and at sea and in the skies.
2 - Planetside 2
PlanetSide 2 is a MMOFPS that delivers truly epic, massive combat on a scale never before seen in stunning, breathtaking detail. Battles wage with literally thousands of players aligning with one of three unique factions in intense land, air and vehicle gameplay where the fight for territory is more than a victory, its survival.
