EVE Online Going Free to Play

EVE Online Going Free to Play

With its next expansion, launching this november, EVE Online will become free to play. All players will be able to access the classic space MMO for free.

CCP will add two account types, called "clone states", Omega and Alpha. While the Omega clones will act as similar to the current sub status (unlimited access to skill progresion and rapid skill training), Alpha clones will act as the new base state for all characters. Alpha players will be able to train and use a specific set of skills to fly the most often-used ships (Tech 1 frigates, destroyers, and cruisers), and they will train skills at a reduced rate.

As you can imagine, characters on subscribed accounts will be granted Omega state, while Alpha state will be given to characters on any unsubscribed account.
