The performance upgrade shop allows players to modify and upgrade their car collection via 6 categories of enhancement (drive train, suspension, wheels, engine, weight and forced induction). The feature is built on the game's highly realistic racing engine which mathematically models every part of a car to deliver authentic driving and handling.

Executive Producer, Doug Wolff said, "The core philosophy of Auto Club Revolution's design is the ability to allow players to customise their experience, so the release of the performance upgrade shop into the closed beta is particularly exciting for the team. In addition to the release of this feature, we've also unveiled more new cars and tracks which allows us to expand the scale of this phase of the beta test."
